Dmitriy M. Konopatskiy (born October, 9 1987), better known by his stage name Xlusive (/ikˈsklo͞osiv/), is a Russian born Hip Hop recording artist from Los Angeles, CA. Xlusive has released two mixtapes, Respect Is Everything (2006) and The Countdown (2009). On May 24, 2011 he released his first independent album, Just In Time.
Born in Moscow, Russia, Xlusive caught the fall of the Soviet Union and the initial building process of the Russian Federation. He lived just minutes away from the White House, which on September 21, 1993 was shot at by military tanks during a political stand-off between the Russian president, Boris Yeltsin, and the Russian parliament. It was a turmoilous period in his life. Being concerned with the political unrest and the war in Chechnya Xlusive’s family decided to move to America. On July 16, 1995, they immigrated to Los Angeles, California.
In Los Angeles, Xlusive used television sitcoms, movies, and music to learn English. He was heavily influenced by the Hip Hop culture. His early experience with the genre came in the form of 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Nas, Jay-Z, and Will Smith. Having an interest in music and poetry, he began to combine the two forms of art to create an outlet for his reality.
In 2006, Xlusive released his first mixtape, Respect Is Everything. The mixtape was mostly promoted online and had a limited amount of physical prints distributed amongst friends. In 2009, he released The Countdown, a mixtape that featured two videos, “PSA 2009” and “Love Is Love”. After The Countdown was released Xlusive began to promote his new music through singles. The first single was “First Class,” which was soon followed by “Here We Go” featuring Ashea and “Too Strong” featuring ‘Nita. During this period Xlusive began to work closely with an up-and-coming Los Angeles based producer, Loopz.
During the course of 2010 and early 2011 Xlusive and Loopz teamed up to record Just In Time. Released on May 24, 2011 Just In Time was the first independent album by Xlusive. It featured the single “I’m Back” and guest appearances by ‘Nita, Charm The Legend, Rich B and Ashea.
Since releasing Just In Time Xlusive has gone back to recording new music. On November 12, 2012 Xlusive debuted his new single “Goin’ In” on the radio show Indies In Motion.
He is currently working on an untitled album. The first single is slated for release sometime in the Fall of 2013.
