ALBANY DOWN
BIOGRAPHY

London-based Albany Down are a contemporary rock band with influences ranging from classic acts like Led Zeppelin and Thunder to modern bands such as The Black Keys and Clutch.  They combine a vintage rock-blues sensitivity with a contemporary aggressive energy.

Albany Down are Paul Muir on vocals, guitarist Paul Turley, drummer Donna Peters and bassist Billy Dedman and they have already recorded three albums with award-winning producer Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers, INME, Super Furry Animals).

“These guys are really going somewhere; make sure they take you with them!" – Paul Jones, BBC Radio 2

The band is a hard-working, road-tested outfit, which has been well received at various festivals and venues across the UK and Europe.

Their live show never disappoints.  The band run on pure adrenalin, unrelenting energy and raw emotion and soon have any crowd entranced.  The music is based on thunderous guitar riffs and pounding drums juxtaposed with soulful, soaring, emotionally-charged ballads.

Rock blogger Neil Mach probably got it right, when he recently described the band; “As hot as volcanic ash and yet as cool as snow slippers.”

“The Outer Reach” is an aptly titled album and an accurate barometer of a band on the up-escalator currently tearing up venues around the UK and Europe.  Having already generated over 11,500 Facebook fans, the band are due to start their next Tour in January 2017.

Albany Down albums are available for download on iTunes, Amazon and their website store and Physical copies also available at Amazon and their website store.

“Albany Down is the new voice of British rock music.  A blend of contemporary rock and blues – with added brilliance on top.  See for yourself.”

REVIEW from Mike Craggs from Sedgefield Rock and Blues Club

“Nipped over to Sedgefield R’n'B Club on Friday night to catch Albany Down’s return visit after they shook the place 3 years ago. That was one of those gigs where you got a glimpse of the “lightning in the bottle”; this time round, there was no bottle, just the lightning. Paul T, Donna, Paul M & Billy have fused into a really tight and powerful band with their own sound and style of rockin’ Blues in the best British tradition.

When announced, the gig was intended to have been the launch of album #3, but that has since been put back until sometime in May; however, the band seem to be well proud of their studio efforts and treated Sedgefield to probably every new track; and I have to say, each one was a killer.

From the sounds of it, they’ve gone into the studio and consolidated everything that makes Albany Down. On first hearing, the stand-outs for me were Mr Hangman, with Paul M’s rapid-fire lyrics to the fore, a powerful Revolution, which they used as a ballsy set-closer, and the track that closed the first half of the set, Home. Not that it meant there wasn’t room for other AD favourites and a mighty encore of Not Over Yet.

Really, really good night with a band of 4 musicians reaching their stride, and striding in the same direction - for the top.”

Blues Rock Review of Not Over Yet

"Like a meteor headed straight for your radio, Albany Down propels to the next level with their second album, Not Over Yet. Building on the foundation of their debut, these Brits prove there is no sophomore slump in their vocabulary. Their undertones are classic rock-infused blues, with the glossy finish of a modern rock band. With heavy riffs, and an equally thunderous chorus, each track embodies the versatile capabilities of the band." - Blues Rock Review

Not Over Yet Review by Pete Feenstra

"They save their best for last with their own anthem ‘The Working Man’, which taps into contemporary times with heartfelt, socially relevant lyrics, topped by a soaring vocal, big production strings and a defining guitar break. ‘Not Over Yet’ taps into the roots of rock’s collective consciousness to come up with something refreshingly new and exciting. Unreservedly recommended for all classic rock fans." - Pete Feenstra, Get Ready To Rock
