CLLSSRR / Melbourne Melodic Electronic Drone Bass Noise Future

Catharsis is often described as a purgation of human emotion.
Often expressed through some of our more creative mediums as a form of release, a rebirth into the world we live in,
the kind of awakening where from now on, nothing will ever be the same again.
This idea of ‘Catharsis’ has become in our current times some kind of desperate and inverted spiritual ideal, perhaps unattainable
against soul numbing streams of social media content, false value laden capitalist intent, and the coma inducing perpetual drip feed of consumerism.
You know the deal, and you know that you should be struggling against it, too. But waking up can sometimes be a hard thing to do…

It is within this notion that the recent output of Melbourne musician (previously a founding member of cult post rock band These Hands), Cllssrr (Liam Daly) makes his strongest impression.
Less often defined within our subject word are the moments before the release occurs.
Deep within the throngs of an existential crisis, we finally come to realise the current state we have been traversing.
The sounds of Cllssrr are the oscillation between ignorant paralytic obliteration, and the violent effort it takes to break free from the grasp that has enslaved us.
It is this slow and silent struggle that permeates the sonic landscape of Cllssrr’s lush experimental and melodic, sub bass sodden, droning electronic creations.

Heartache / Lifted review Who The Hell

Who The Hell review for fourth release, Heartache / Lifted. "‘Heartache’ is like the soundtrack to some unspecified dystopian era, whether industrial, medieval or post-apocalyptic. The highlight is ‘Lifted’, with its breathy synth washes and submerged vocals, which sound like someone calling to you from inside a deep cavern."

Fluid Radio UK writeup for the first release, the White Heat EP. "The listener can hear ‘Why Are We Not Perfect?’ era Jesu permeating this release. But then it will also ring strangely familiar with listeners of Belong, Lights Out Asia and even the sounds of A Winged Victory For The Sullen are hinted at here, giving the listener just a tiny bit of even ground to step from into Closer’s next output."
