Eric Kalver Music / Los Angeles, CA Composer, Arranger, Songwriter, and Orchestrator

Eric grew up in a family consisting of musicians, musical theater performers, magicians, actors, and dancers. His childhood was consumed with music; he would pretend his bike was an X-Wing starfighter or Elliot's bike from ET, belting the epic, cinematic fanfares of John Williams. His father made it a requirement to listen to Broadway music, classic rock, and Disney movie musicals. The Beatles became his go-to guide for songwriting and Weird Al Yankovic showed him how with all of these musical upbringings, he can make it smart and fun for everyone.

After years of performance awards and honors as a drummer in Rhode Island, Eric attended Berklee College of Music with a performance scholarship. He knew that due to his upbringing of musical theater, he was too anxious to only perform; he wanted to write and arrange. Through his major, Eric was selected 2 years in a row as a featured arranger for the Contemporary Writing & Production Student Concerts. He was known for his unique arrangements: turning a System of a Down song into a bossa nova; changing a Britney Spears song into a 6/8 acappella piece, and mashing up pop songs from Justin Timberlake and Beyonce.

Eric made the move to Los Angeles in the summer of 2009 and since then, he has been a non-stop force in Los Angeles. He has orchestrated on movies for composer Brian Tyler (Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World) such as Fast Five and Battle: Los Angeles; orchestrated on Skyline for Matthew Margeson (Kick Ass 2); and has done copyist work for orchestrator/conductor James Sale (Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs), composer Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo, The Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street), Snuffy Walden (Nashville, Friday Night Lights) and Gabriel Mann (Modern Family).

In addition to his movie work, Eric is a published arranger through Alfred Music Publishing, a composer for iPhone games, and arranges/music directs for many singer-songwriters. Most recently, Eric co-composed the music for Miley Montana: The Musical with composer Dan Wessels at the famous Second City in Hollywood, CA. He has also worked for Upright Citizens Brigade, 30 Minute Musicals, and Lost Moon Radio.

With all of Eric's experiences in composing, arranging, and orchestrating, he has a vast musical knowledge and cinematic sense that will be great for any project he attaches himself to.
