Praised for her “fresh and exuberant” stage presence by the Daily Camera, Russian soprano Ekaterina Kotcherguina is a flexible performer, equally compelling when portraying light-hearted damsels or tragic heroines. She holds an affinity for music of the Baroque and Classical period and particularly enjoys singing innovative interpretations of the Baroque repertoire.
Her 2017-2018 season will see her performing the role of Fiordiligi in Boulder Opera Company’s production of Così fan tutte, in addition to appearances with the Boulder Chamber Orchestra, the Boulder Bach Festival, the Boulder Fine Tuned Society, the Arkansas Youth Symphony Orchestra, and the Colorado chapter of Opera on Tap.
Since moving to Boulder, Ms. Kotcherguina’s operatic repertoire has grown to include Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Blanche (Dialogues of the Carmelites), and Clorinda (La Cenerentola) with Eklund Opera Theatre; Adina (L’elisir d’amore) with Boulder Opera Company; and Musetta (La bohème) with Opera In The Rock in Arkansas. Other engagements have included performances with the Augustana Arts Concert Series, the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre, and the New Century Music Concert Series (Oklahoma).
Winner of the 2017 Denver Lyric Opera Guild Competition, Ms. Kotcherguina received her Performance Certificate in Opera and Solo Vocal Performance from the University of Colorado Boulder, and her Masters of Music degree from the University of Oklahoma. Her training includes the prestigious Music Academy of the West, OperaWorks - Advanced Artists Program, London Summer School of Voice, and the Up North Vocal Institute.
